We split our four picks yesterday but still turned a small profit as the Flames won as +120 home underdogs. There are ten games on the NHL hockey betting docket tonight, including the Senators, Maple Leafs, Canucks and Jets in action. Here are betting previews, offshore betting odds and Proline betting odds for all the action (Proline odds are from Ontario):

Hurricanes at Sabres
Offshore betting odds: Hurricanes -111, O/U 5
Proline betting odds: V+ 2.40/V 1.70/T 6.00/H 1.80/H+ 2.50, O/U 5

The Sabres look to avoid their fifth consecutive 4-3 loss when they host the Hurricanes. Carolina wouldn’t mind another one-goal game, since it is 15-3-9 in contests decided by a single marker. The Canes,  coming off a 3-2 win last night in Philadelphia, are 17-36 in their last 53 games playing on 0 days rest. But the Sabres are 15-37 in their last 52 overall.

Our pick: Under 5

Blues at Rangers
Offshore betting odds: Blues -117, O/U 5
Proline betting odds: V+ 2.20/V 1.60/T 6.00/H 1.90/H+ 2.70, O/U 5.5

A nice night for us last night, cashing 6 of our 9 bets for +3.1 units including comfortable underdog wins with the Devils, Senators and Blue Jackets.
Let’s see if we can keep it rolling tonight with four games available on the NHL hockey betting docket, including the Canadiens and Flames in action. Here are betting previews, offshore betting odds and Proline betting odds for all the action (Proline odds are from Ontario).

Hurricanes at Flyers
Offshore betting odds: not listed as of 9 am eastern
Proline betting odds: not listed as of 9 am eastern

A night after their originally scheduled game was postponed due to a snowstorm, the Hurricanes and Flyers will try to get this one in. Carolina’s probably not happy to be spending any more time in Philly than it has to, considering the Canes are 5-17-2 in their last 24 visits to the Flyers. The Hurricanes have cooled off of late, losing three of four after a five-game winning streak. Philadelphia has earned points in four straight games, averaging four …

Ten games on the NHL hockey betting docket tonight, including the Senators, Maple Leafs, Canucks, Oilers and Jets in action. Here are betting previews, offshore betting odds and Proline betting odds for all the action (Proline odds are from Ontario):

Panthers at Sabres
Offshore betting odds: Sabres-118, O/U 5
Proline betting odds: V+ 2.50/V 1.80/T 6.00/H 1.70/H+ 2.40, O/U 5

The line on this game opened at pick ‘em but early money quickly came in on the Sabres. Buffalo is showing a lot of fight under Ted Nolan, with each of its last six games being decided by one goal — four of them in shootouts. Second game in as many nights for the Panthers, who stunned the Penguins 5-1 last night and could let down against Sabres. Florida is 17-39 in its last 56 games on the road, but the Sabres are 15-36 in their last 51 overall. Plug your nose, no matter who you’re taking in this one.
Our pick: Regulation tie

Blues at Devils

World Series MLB Betting Futures Odds For 2014

Remember a year ago when the Blue Jays were the talk of baseball going into spring training?

Toronto was even listed at one time as the betting favourites to win the 2013 World Series, ranking shortly ahead of the Dodgers, Angels and Nationals. (For the record, the Jays, Angels and Nationals all went on to miss the playoffs.)

We all know how that worked out. Even after adopting half the Marlins roster and acquiring defending NL Cy Young champion R.A. Dickey, the Jays went on to crash, burn and finish dead last in the A.L. East. (For the record, the Angels and Nationals missed the playoffs as well.)

So maybe it’s a good thing people aren’t talking too much about the Jays as the 2014 season approaches. Oddsmakers don’t seem too impressed, either, listing Toronto as a +1800 darkhorse to win its first World Series since glory years that feel so much longer ago than 1992-93.

Bet365 ranks the Dodgers, Nationals and Tigers as the top three betting favourites to win the World Series in …

Hockey Teams Lead Canada’s Top Gold Medal Betting Hopefuls At Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games

Comments Off

Three weeks before the Sochi Games begin, Pinnacle Sports is listing Canada as the favourite to win men’s hockey gold.

Canada pays +198 on the moneyline to win it all. Russia, the host country which was previously listed as the favourite, isn’t far behind at +216.
Other notables include Sweden (+420), United States (+740), Czech Republic (+864) and Finland (+980).
Canada has won men’s hockey gold in two of the last three Olympics, including 2010 in Vancouver. Sweden has won twice in the past five Games (1994 and 2006) while Czech Republic claimed gold in 1998. Russia has not been the Olympic men’s hockey champion since 1988, when it was part of the Soviet Union.

Women’s hockey

Women’s hockey is dominated so much by two countries that Pinnacle Sports is hanging futures odds on only two countries — Canada and the United States.
Canada is a -119 favourite to win women’s hockey gold, followed closely by the U.S. at +105.
Canada was the women’s hockey champion in the past three Games, while the U.S. captured …

Portland And Phoenix Good Teams To Bet On, But Not Listed Among NBA Futures Favourites

Comments Off

4624684843_1630196e78Two of the three most profitable teams to bet on this NBA season still remain longshots to win the NBA championship.

The league-leading Portland Trailblazers (24-5) are 18-11 against the spread this year, yet are tied with the Golden State Warriors as the seventh-most likely team to lift the Larry O’Brien Trophy (+1600 odds at Bodog).

The Phoenix Suns, who are 17-10 overall but a sweet 20-6-1 against the spread, are much further down the NBA futures list at +6600.

The two-time defending champion Miami Heat (22-6 overall, 13-15 ATS) are the favourites to win a third straight title, listed at +190.

The Heat is followed by the Indiana Pacers (23-5 overall, 20-8 ATS) at +400; the Oklahoma City Thunder (23-5 overall, 16-12 ATS) at +600; and the San Antonio Spurs (23-7 overall, 16-14 ATS) at +750.

Other notables include the LA Clippers (+1200), Houston Rockets (+1400), Brooklyn Nets (+4000), Chicago Bulls (+4000) and Dallas Mavericks (+5000).

The Toronto Raptors are listed at +20000.…

Skrill No Longer Processing Gambling Payments In Canada

Comments Off

Deposit Bag-resized-601One of the most convenient methods for funding online gambling accounts is no longer available to Canadians.

Skrill (Moneybookers) recently announced that it “has reached a decision to cease processing gambling payments in Canada.” Payments to gambling merchants will no longer be processed as of Jan. 2, and payments out will be discontinued as of Jan. 31.

This is a big loss for Canadians who prefer to do their sports betting online. Skrill was easy to set up and use, limits were high, fees were low and it was accepted by top books Pinnacle Sports, Bet365 and Sport Interaction.

However, there are still many reliable and even convenient ways to fund your online sportsbook account. Here’s a look at your options:

Instadebit

Accepted by Pinnacle Sports, Bet365

You never have to fund your Instadebit account before using it to transfer funds to a sportsbook. When you open an Instadebit account you will attach your Canadian bank account and they will assign you a weekly transaction limit. Then you can instantly deposit into your sportsbook account …

Proline Can Occasionally Offer Better Odds For NCAA Basketball Betting

Betting college basketball at Proline isn’t ideal, but it can occasionally have one major advantage: better lines.

While college basketball point spreads can fluctuate drastically (by one or two points, sometimes even more) during the day in Las Vegas and at online sportsbooks, they seem to remain the same at Proline. That can open up some value.

In tonight’s NCAA basketball betting action, for example, two of the seven games on Proline’s Ontario card have point spreads that have a difference or two points or more from online sportsbooks. Yale is +8.5 at Proline but has been bet down to +6 offshore, while Arizona is -1.5 at Proline and -3.5 offshore.

With so many college basketball games decided within one or two points of the point spread, disparities like this can make Proline a better way to go on occasion.

Of course, the problems with betting NCAA basketball — or any other sport — with Proline remain. You have to parlay at least two outcomes together (most often three), and the payout on your parlays …

NFL Point Spreads For Week 7

Comments Off

It’s easy to feel blasé when looking at the Week 7 slate in the National Football League, but NFL football betting is always interesting.
As far as must-see games go, Denver at Indianapolis on Sunday night appears to be the only one. The Cowboys/Eagles clash for the NFC East lead and the Bengals/Lions matchup of 4-2 teams should also be fun to watch.
The other contests don’t appear too intriguing, at least until you analyze the point spreads and begin to make arguments for and against each team. Scheduling and other intangibles become more important at this time of year, now that we’re getting into the meat of the season.
Here are our quick hits on this week’s NFL games and odds:

Seahawks at Cardinals (+6.5, O/U 40)
This may be a more dangerous game for Seattle than it first appears to be. Seahawks are 1-6 ATS last 7 trips to Arizona, including four-point loss in last year’s season opener.

Bears at Redskins (-2, O/U 51)
1-4 Washington is favoured over 4-2 Chicago. Redskins outgained …
